Let’s go to Otaru Ushio Festival, a major summer event in Otaru!

The first festival was held in 1967 and is the largest summer festival in Otaru. It is a citizens’ participatory event to express gratitude to the sea and to wish for the development of Otaru, and attracts many tourists and Otaru citizens every year. Otaru citizens grew up and live by the sea. You will experience the spirit and determination like the spray of the “tide” at the festival.
■fireworks

The highlight of the Otaru Tide Festival is the fireworks. Approximately 3,000 large fireworks are continuously launched to fill the summer night sky of Otaru.
The fireworks are launched from the Otaru Port No. 3 Pier, and can be seen not only from the center of Otaru, but also from Otaru Tenguyama, Hiraiso Park, and Mt.
【Recommendations】
At the top lounge “Pole Star” on the 11th floor of the Authent Hotel Otaru, you can watch the fireworks from the bar counter facing the harbor. If you would like to enjoy the fireworks from a quiet, special seat with a glass of wine in hand, please make a reservation as soon as possible.

The shopping streets and Otaru Canal will take on a different look as many dancers and Otaru citizens parade around Otaru City dancing to the “Ushio Ondo” and “Ushio Dance Song”. The whole town will be dancing to the traditional Ondo, and all are welcome to jump in and join in. Let’s dance “Ushio Ondo” together!
■Stage & Food Stalls

You can see performances unique to Hokkaido, Japan, such as YOSAKOI and Japanese drumming arts.
Zangi, Hokkaido’s local dish, and fresh seafood that can be enjoyed only in a port town, as well as a variety of popular Otaru restaurants will be open for business.
The Otaru Ushio Festival will celebrate its 59th anniversary in 2025.
The festival will be a grand success for three days.
